About EAST

EAST is a network of creatives working together to support the British East and South Asian community working in Scripted Television.  We aim to provide a forum for writers, directors, producers, agents and executives to come together to help improve the representation of East Asians both on and off screen.  EAST is starting by focusing on the development phase of scripted television and not yet on production.

Membership is free but you should meet the following criteria:

  • You work in Scripted TV involved in the development phase of programmes  - you could be a writer, producer, director, agent, distribution exec, development assistant, etc;
  • You are British East or South East Asian or ESEA working in the UK;
  • You must have experience in and currently be working in the scripted tv sector (or have reasonable experience previously working in scripted). For writers and directors to join the network, we expect them to point to broadcast credits or an agent to demonstrate this - recent participation in some broadcaster TV writing programmes may also be acceptable;
  • You are open and willing to collaborate to improve representation on and off screen.

Membership requests will be assessed by the EAST team, who will have sole discretion as to applications.  We're looking for people actively working in TV (not film), and everyone is expected to adhere to our Community Rules (http://www.easttv.org/communityrules). For newer members of the industry, we will be offering other programmes to join the network  - please check out our website for more information.  You are very important!
